let us assume that 3+ 5 is a rational no . so

3+5 = p/ q

5 = p/q -3

5= p - 3q / q

but as we know that 5 is an irrational no. and p-3q/q is a rational so that is not possible ....

hence our assumption was wrong and it is an irrational no.
