now,

3√5-8=a/b

3√5=a/b+8

3√5=a+8b/b

√5=a+8b/3b

therefore the above two sides that is lhs and rhs are rational.

But this contradicts the fact that√5 is rational is irrational number .

therefore our assumption is wrong.

Therefore 3√5-8 is irrational number
