a = 2a is satisfied by only one value as it is a linear equation in one variable.

We can get the value of a by simplification;

a = 2a

=> a - 2a = 0

=> - a = 0

=> a = 0 .

Therefore, Value of a is 0.

Let a = x
a² = ax
a² - x² = ax - x²=x(a-x)
a-x=0
( a-x)(a+x)=x(a-x)
a+x=x
hence a+a = a
2a=a
