A simple definition states that everything around us which has shape, size are matter ( they mean literally everything)

Air has shape ? Yes! when u keep it in a container.

So I think you must have got the proof

Air is all around us and everything around is called matter

Acording to defination,air also have some mass as well as it occupies space.
