Solution:

To prove: { \cos}^{2} \beta - { \sin }^{2} \beta = 2( { \cos }^{2} \beta - 1)

Taking L.H.S.,

= { \cos}^{2} \beta - { \sin }^{2} \beta

= { \cos}^{2} \beta - (1 - { \cos }^{2} \beta)

= { \cos}^{2} \beta - 1 + { \cos }^{2} \beta

= 2 { \cos}^{2} \beta - 1 = R.H.S.

Hence Proved
