= cos x cos 2x + sin x sin 2x - [ sin x cos 2x + cos 2x sin x ]
= cos (2x-x) - sin (2x + x)
= cos x - sin 3x
= cos (2x-x) - sin (2x + x)
= cos x - sin 3x
