What is the difference between class intervals and class boundaries?
In short, class interval is nothing but the difference between class boundaries

Class boundary

Class boundary is the midpoint of the upper class limit of one class and the lower class limit of the subsequent class.

Eg: class
A 0-9
B 10-19
C 20-29

For Class B, Lower class limit(LCL)=10
Upper class limit(UCL)=19

a) Lower class boundary = (LCL + UCL of the previous class)/2

=(10+9)/2=9.5

b) Upper class boundary = (UCL+ LCL of the Subsequent class)/2

=(20+19)/2=19.5

Class interval

a) Inclusive Class Interval:
When the lower and the upper class limit is included

Eg: class
A 0-9
B 10-19
C 20-29

For Class B, Lower class boundary=9.5
Upper class boundary=19.5

Inclusive class interval=Upper class boundary-lower class boundary
=19.5−9.5=10

b) Exclusive Class Interval:
When the lower limit is included, but the upper limit is excluded

Eg: class
A 0-10
B 10-20
C 20-30

For Class B, Lower class limit(LCL)=10
Upper class limit(UCL)=20(not included)

Exclusive class interval=UCL-LCL
=20−10=10
