2FeCl2 + 2 HCl ---> 2FeCl3 + H2

In this reaction-

Fe present in FeCl2 is in +2 oxidation state wheres in FeCl3 it is in +3 oxidation state. So here oxidation reaction taking place..

On the other hand water is getting reduced to H2.

So in this chemical reaction both oxidation and reduction reaction are taking place. So this is a redox reaction.
