let us assume that 6 - √2 is an rational number

6 -√2=p/q

here p and q are coprime integers and q is not equal to zero

-√2= p/q-6

-√2= p-6/q ....... taking q as LCM

here-√2 is irrational number and p, 6 and q are rational numbers

therefore-√2 =p-6/q is not possible

therefore our assumption is wrong

therefore it is proved that 6 -√2 is a irrational number
