What is LHS=RHS in mathematics?

An equation is a mathematical compound expression which has one equal to sign in between two expressions signifying that whatever is written on left side of equal to sign is equal to whatever is written on right side of eaual to sign.

(Left Hand side (LHS) expression) = (Right Hand side (RHS)expression)

This expression can be anything from a single variable , a constant ,a polynomial ,a logarithmic quantity etc .

Whenever we wanna prove that a equation is true or an identity is true ,we have two ways:-

Find one side of equal to sign from another side and hence they will be considered equal.

Simplify both Left Hand Side(LHS) and Right Hand side(RHS) until both of them become same. Then LHS will be equal to RHS which is written as : LHS= RHS i.e identity or mathematical approved fact is true.

Hence , LHS=RHS signifies that both sides are equal to each other as one can be derived from another by some suitable mathematical operations
