take a sample in a test tube

put 10 drops of water to the sample

shake it well

now using dropper add 2 drops solution of copper sulphate and 10 drops of caustic soda.
 
shake it well

and let it stand for few minutes

observe did it turn to violet colour
 
the violet colour indicates the presence of protien
