Prove that nth term of an A.P. can not be n2+1. Justify your answer.

an=n2+1
d=an-an-1
d=(n2+1)-[(n-1)^2+1]
=n2+1-n2+2n-1-1
d=2n-1
since common difference depends upon n and not constant, n2-1 can not be the nth term of an A.P.
