krushika1104: because if the associativity holds true then it should be true for any 3 real numbers. but since I have 3 numbers which do not satisfy this condition, so I can disprove it using a counter example.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let consider 3 numbers 2,3 and 4

to check whether (2*3)*4 is equal to 2*(3*4)

so LHS= (2*3)*4=(2+6)*4=8*4=8+8=16

and

RHS=2*(3*4)=2*(3+8)=2*11=2+22=24

since LHS is not equal to RHS .so associativity doesn't hold.
