Step-by-step explanation:

I. sin^2 theta + cos^2 theta= 1

proof :

in triangle ABC right angled at B, theta at A

sin theta = BC/AC and cos theta= AB/AC

now,

sin^2 theta + cos^2 theta =(BC/AC)^2 + (AB/AC)^2

= BC^2/AC^2 + AB^2/AC^2

= (BC^2+AB^2)/AC^2

= AC^2/AC^2

= 1

HENCE PROVED that sin^2 theta + cos^2 theta= 1
