There are two methods to do this.

As attached picture shows take Pythagoras Theorem and divide all the terms by Hypothenuse.

Or

Use the trigonometry table I attached and substitute for C= 0 or 30 or 45 or 60 or 90 (all in degrees) and you would understand why is sin^2A+cos^2A=1.
