prove that sound waves are mechanical waves

Explanation:

The sound waves in air are longitudinal waves because when a sound wave passes through the air the layers of air i.e,molecules in air layers vibrate back and forth in the same direction in which sound travels. Also these waves are mechanical waves because they need a material medium for their propagation.
