you can solve it by contradiction method

firstly u have to consider that root 5 is rational number then take two co prime a and b such that root 5=a/b

squaring on both side

5=a^2/b^2

then 5b^2=a^2

if means that b divide a but it is co prime this contradiction is arise due to our wrong assumption so we conclude that it is rational number
