Answer:

For proving this we need to keep a pot and we need to hide a part of the leaf in the plant with black paper and we should view it after 1day.so that we can see that the part which is tied up with black paper will be different from other leaves and it will be in a white colour.and thus we can saw that plant needs sunlight to prepare it food and to save starch in it

Aim: To prove that sunlight is necessary to form starch in green plants.

Apparatus: Potted plant, light screen, iodine solution.

Procedure:

  1. Take a potted plant and keep it in dark for two or three days in order to remove starch from its leaves.
  2. Cover one of its leaves with black paper on which a design is cut. Fix the paper on the leaf in such a manner that light does not enter the dark part.
  3. Place the plant in the sunlight.

Observation: It is observed that only the parts of the leaf which could get light through the cut out design, turns blue black, showing the presence of starch.

Result: This experiment proves that light is necessary to form starch for in the photosynthesis process.
