Consider a right angle triangle ABC right angle at B.

We know,

Sin theeta= Opposite side/ Adjacent side=AB/AC

Cos theeta=Adjacent side/Hypotenuse=BC/AC

We also know,

Tan theeta=Opposite side/Adjacent side=AB/AC÷BC/AC= Sin theeta/ Cos theeta

Hence, Tan theeta= Sin theeta/Cos theeta
