8/9 = 0.888

9/10 = 0.9

2/5 = 0.4

• 8/9-(9/10-2/5) = 0.388

• (8/9-9/10)-2/5 = -0.412

Therefore 8/9-(9/10-2/5) is not equal to (8/9-9/10)-2/5

That is 0.388 is not equal to -0.412

Hence it is proved that 8/9-(9/10-2/5) is not associative
