SOLUTION

TO PROVE

The data N = 2100 , (A) = 1000 , (B) = 1300 and (AB) = 1100 are inconsistent.

EVALUATION

Here it is given that

N = 2100 , (A) = 1000 , (B) = 1300 and (AB) = 1100

We calculate the value of ( αβ )

Now

( αβ )

= αβ . N

= ( 1 - A ) ( 1 - B ). N

= N - (A) - (B) + ( AB )

= 2100 - 1000 - 1300 + 1100

= + 900

Now

( Aβ )

= ( A ) - (AB)

= 1000 - 1100

= - 100

Thus ( Aβ ) is negative

We know that if any of the ultimate class frequencies comes to be negative then the given data is inconsistent

Hence proved
