Prove that the following are irrationals:
(ii) 1/√2​

Let us assume that 1/√2 is a rational number

1/√2 = a/b ( where a,b are co prime hcf(a,b)=0 )

√2 =a/b

we know that irrational is not equal to rational

There for your assumption is wrong

therefore 1/√2 is irrational number
