Let's take five natural numbers. For example: 2,3,4,5,6.

We cannot take the first 5 or any other natural numbers(1,2,3,4,5) as the first and last number which in this case are 1 and 5 respectively. If we take odd numbers as the first and last number then we can't get an even number as the sum.

So,

 2 +  3 + 4 + 5 + 6   \\  \\ so \:  2 + 3 + 4 + 5  + 6\: is \: 20

Hence, the sum of 5 natural numbers is even.
