you can't.
The thing is x and y are variables so you can put any number in their place due to which the equations may satisfy for some cases while it won't for others.
The value of x and y can be found though

amartya59: really?? I would say wrong question
amartya59: U solved it taking the equations as a pair of linear equations
amartya59: *I*
amartya59: taking as two seperate equations u will have infinite solutions
amartya59: but one can't prove it. I am sorry

Step-by-step explanation:

a1 = 1 ,a2=3

b1 = -3 , b2 =9

c1 = -3, c2 = -2

so by applying the the formula

a1/a2=1/3=b1/b2=-3/-9=c1/c2=-3/-2

=) 1/3=1/3but no equal to 3/2

SO, a1/a2=b1/b2 but not equal to c1/c2

therefore they are inconsistent,parallel lines
