Prove that -(x+y)=(-x)+(-y)

LHS = -(x+y)
= -x - y ......( opening brackets )
= (-x) + (-y)
= RHS.
Hence proved.

RHS

(-x)+(-y)

= -x-y

=-(x+y)

LHS

-(x+y)

therefore, LHS=RHS

hence proved
