Initial velocity of the body=u=OA, final velocity=v=BC ,but from the graph BC=BD+BC. Therefore v=BD+BC. Again DC=OA. So. V=BD+OA. From equation (1)OA=u and v=BD+U. We should find out the value of BD now. We know that the slope of a velocity-time graph is equal to (a)acceleration. Thus, a=BD/AD. But AD=OC=t ,so putting t in place ofAD in the above relation ,we get: a=BD/t .Now ,putting the value ofBD in equation(4) we get:v=at+u. Therefore v=u+at.
