» PROOF :

Let us assume that 2 + √2 is rational .

Now ,
If we substract 2 from 2 + √2 , we get ,

2 + √2 - 2 = √2

But , we know that √2 is an irrational number .

Therefore , it contradicts the fact that 2 + √2 is rational .

Hence , 2 + √2 is an irrational no.
