Required Answer:-

  • For comparing two different datas, we can use Arithmetical elements such as ratio, percentage. I am using percentage for easier explanation.

City 1:-

  • No. of smokers = 125
  • Total no. of men = 500

Then, % of smokers:

  • = No. of smokers / Total no. of men × 100
  • = 125 / 500 × 100
  • = 1 / 4 × 100
  • = 25 %

City 2:-

  • No. of smokers = 375
  • Total no. of men = 1000

Then, % of smokers:

  • = No. of smokers / Total no. of men × 100
  • = 375 / 1000 × 100
  • = 37.5 %

Hence:-

  • The percentage of smokers in second day i.e. 37.5% is more than the percentage of smokers in first day i.e. 25%.
  • Smokers of 2nd > Smokers of 1st

Thus, Our assumption is true.
