In pic.1

Resistance 3 and 4 are in series so eq resistance of these two resistance is

R + R = 2R

Similarly for 6 and 7 resistance equivalent resistance is 2R.

In pic 2

All resistance are connected in parallel so

 \frac{1}{r \: eq}  =  \frac{1}{r}  +  \frac{1}{r}  +  \frac{1}{2r}  +  \frac{1}{r}  +  \frac{1}{2r}  \\  \frac{1}{r \: eq}  =  \frac{2 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 1}{2r}  \\  \frac{1}{r \: eq}  =  \frac{8}{2r}  \\  \frac{1}{r \: eq}  =  \frac{4}{r}  \\ r \: eq =  \frac{r}{4}

Mine answer is coming r/4

can't match to the option
