3 provinces - Baluchistan, North-West Frontier and Sindh joined the Dominion of Pakistan, 3 provinces - Punjab, Bengal and Assam were partitioned between India and Pakistan. The remaining 11 provinces joined the Union of India.
There were 565 princely states which had to accede themselves either to India or Pakistan. Except Sikkim(Joined India in 1975), the remaining 564 princely states’ accession was completed in 1949.
