We get Platelet rich plasma from blood by centrifugation method.
- PRP is isolated from whole blood by centrifugation.
- The first step is blood fractionation by a 'soft spin', which is centrifugation at a low rpm.
- After centrifugation the whole blood will become three layers.
- The bottom layer contains the RBC, middle layer contains WBC and the top layer contains the PRP.
- We take the top PRP layer into another centrifugation tube and centrifuge again to pellet and remove any contaminants.
- After removing the pellets we centrifuge again to concentrate the platelets.
- The concentrated PRP is to be purified and used.
- During this process different buffers are added at different steps to make the isolation easier.
