Puja’s house is to the west of Ram’s house at a distance of 8 metres in the same row facing north. If Neeta’s house is in the south-east direction of Puja’s house at a distance of 17 metres and in the same column with Ram’s house, then what will be the distance of Neeta’s house from Ram’s house?

Given :- Puja’s house is to the west of Ram’s house at a distance of 8 metres in the same row facing north. If Neeta’s house is in the south-east direction of Puja’s house at a distance of 17 metres and in the same column with Ram’s house .

To Find :- what will be the distance of Neeta’s house from Ram’s house ?

Solution :-

from image first taking Position of Ram house, then, Puja's house is to the west of Ram’s house at a distance of 8 metres in the same row facing north .

Now, Neeta’s house is in the south-east direction of Puja’s house at a distance of 17 metres and in the same column with Ram’s house .

Placing all three houses Position we get,

in ∆ABC,

→ ∠ABC = 90°

→ BC = 8 m .

→ CA = 17 m .

So, by Pythagoras theorem we get,

→ AB² + BC² = CA²

→ AB² = CA² - BC²

→ AB² = 17² - 8²

→ AB² = 289 - 64

→ AB² = 225

→ AB² = 15²

→ AB = 15 m. (Ans.)

Hence, the distance of Neeta’s house from Ram’s house is 15m.
