Pulakeshin-II fought with Harshavardhana is a true statement.

Explanation:

  • Pulakeshin-II was a great ruler of the south, capital of which is Vatapi. He was a chalukya king while Harshavardhana ruled in the North. The former challenged Harsha’s conquests. Unable to tolerate rival’s presence and he accepted the challenge.
  • Harshavardhana marched from his capital city Kannauj towards the Deccan. It is said that he took a huge force including the elephant’s troops with him. But the Chalukya king was so efficient in guarding the river pass that it compelled him to retire from the battlefield and to accept the Narmada as the demarcation.
