  • Animal sources- They includes food sources like animal products mostly, for example Eggs, Milk, Meat, fish etc.
  • Plant sources- They include the products of leguminous plants like pulses, beans, soyabean, nuts, cereals etc.

In our body, protein is found in various forms like in enzymes, hormones, other chemical coordinators. Transport proteins are found in the plasma membrane of cell. They are basic component of plasma memebrane other than lipids. There are proteins called protective protein which are the antibodies formed by the immune system. The structural proteins helps in the formation of bone, cells and tissues. The Contractile proteins in muscles helps in the contraction and relaxation of muscles. Thus, proteins plays a great role in each and every work being done inside our body.

Th deficiency of Proteins causes disorders such as kwashikor, marasmus, and several mental health disorders which weakens the bones and muscles, and the immune system.
