Pulmonary artery is the only artery which carries deoxygenated blood, and pulmonary vein is the only vein which carries pure blood.

Pulmonary artery is different from pulmonary veins because pulmonary artery transports deoxygenated blood from lungs to the heart. On the other hand, pulmonary veins transports oxygenated blood from lungs to heart.
