Pulomoary artery carries deoxygenated blood yet not called a vein. why?

Pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood but it is not called a vein because it carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs and thus it is called a artery as arteries carry blood from heart to other oarts of the body.
