Pulses are one of the Rabi crops grown in the winter season in the months ranging between October to March.

These crops are drought resistant plants naturally suited for dry conditions and low rainfall.

Excessive rainfall, humidity and wet climate are destructive for pulse cropping.

Perfectly drained soil is suitable for pulse cultivation. So they are grown in areas with low rainfall.

Pulses grow well in places where there is less rainfall because of adaptability.

These crops have adapted to the rainfall pattern and hence started to thrive in the areas which do not receive heavy rainfall.

Much research in the field has shown that these crops also yield more than the expected amount of grain when they are grown in regions where there is low rainfall.
