Pure lines can be obtained by the mating of organisms of the same breed.

  • Pure line selection represents the ability to select the superior individual to enhance a specific trait to create.
  • It is termed inbreeding if breeding is between specific animals of the same breed for four to six key generations.
  • The homozygous genes are typically chosen by the successful mating of similar individuals of the same race to positively enhance a specific characteristic.
  • Inbreeding is essential for the key development of the pure line in an animal. Though it results in homozygosity, but equally contributes to evident depression and unproductivity.
