Indefinite articles: a, an

definite articles : the

■ A common noun in singular require an article before it. we use 'a' and 'an' with singular nouns. sometimes plural common noun can have the article 'the'.

■ The choice between two indefinite articles ( a and an) is determined by sound.

words beginning with consonant sound require 'a' while with vowel sound precede 'an'.

■ Sometimes indefinite articles are used to refer the number . 'one'/ 'each'/ 'per'.

■ Indefinite articles often precede descriptive adjectives.

■ 'a' sometimes come before determiners.

eg: a few, a little, a most ,etc.

■ proper noun generally not take article.

■ the is used to indicate particular person(s) , thing (s) in case of common nouns.

■ sometimes the is used to indicate whole class / group.

■ the is used for uncountable nouns.

■ the is also used with geographical nouns.
