PVC used as in microbiology is a class of bacteria called Plantomycetes-Verrucomicrobia-Chlamydiae.

  • It is obtained from a group of superphylum gram-negative bacteria.
  • This group of bacteria consists of three members namely Planctomycetes-Verrucomicrobia-Chlamydiae.
  • It seems that it has lost its peptidoglycan cell wall from its ancestors during evolution.
  • It is hypothesized that one of the members of this group acts as a host cell during endosymbiosis that gave rise to a new proto-eukaryotic cell.
