So,

(26)^2 = (24)^2 + y^2

676 = 576 + y^2

676 - 576 = y^2

100 = y^2

√100 = y

10cm = y...........................eq 1

(30)^2 = (24)^2 + x^2

900 = 576 + x^2

900 - 576 = x^2

324 = x^2

√324 = x

18 cm = x...........................eq 2

There d cm = x + y = 10 + 18 = 28cm

Similarly you can solve the second sum :)
