Step-by-step explanation:

(a) 8/x=2x+1

8=x(2x+1)

8=2x^2+x

2x^2+x-8=0

By quadratic formula:

x = -b+-√b^2-4ac/2c

here; a=2, b=1 ,c=-8

x= -1+-√(1)^2-4(2)(-8)/2(-8)

x= -1+- √ 1 +64/-16

x= -1+-√ 1 - 64/16

x= -1 +- √ 16-64/16

x= -1 +-√ -48/16

x= -1+-√-3

x= -1 + - i√3. (Here i = -1)

The value of x are (-1+i√3 , -1-i√3).

(c) x+1/5-x = x

x+1 = 5x - x^2

x^2+x-5x+1=0

x^2-4x+1=0

By quadratic formula;

a=1 ,b= -4,c= 1

x=-1+-√(4)^2-4(1)(1)/2(1)

x=-1+-√16-4/2

x= -1+-√32/2-4/2

x= -1+-√14

The value of x are (-1+√14, -1-√14)
