1 ) Ratio of their investments = 1800 / 2400 = 3 : 4

profit = 1400 rs

profit of Alka be = 3x

profit of Shweta be = 4x

so, 3x + 4x = 1400

7x = 1400

x = 1400 / 7

x = 200

Alka's profit = 200 × 3 = 600 rs

Shweta's profit = 200 × 4 = 800 rs

2 ) Let no. a be = 7x

Let no. b be = 10 x

so, bigger no. = 140

so, 10 x = 140

x = 140 / 10

x = 14

so, no. a be = 14 × 7 = 98

no. b be = 14 × 10 = 140
