Given :-

• An Almirah of marked Price Rupees 4,000

• An Almirah is sold for Rupees3,700

Solution :-

Here, Firstly we will have to find discount then discount percentage.

We have,

Marked Price = Rs 4,000

Selling price = Rs 3,700

As we know that,

Discount = MP - SP

Put the required values in the given formula,

Discount = 4000 - 3700

Discount = 300

Now,

For calculating discount %

Discount % = Discount / MP * 100

Put the required values,

Discount % = 300 / 4000 * 100

Discount % = 300 / 40

Discount % = 30/4

Discount % = 7.5%

Hence, The rate of discount is 7.5.

• MP = SP + Discount price

• SP = MP - Discount price

{\underline{\underbrace{\tt{Understanding  \:  \: the  \:  \: concept}}}}

Here we are given an almirah whose market price is Rs. 4000. This almirah is sold for Rs. 3700 after allowing a certain discount. We have to find the rate of this discount.

★FORMULA USED:-

 \tt{Rate \:  \:  of  \:  \: Discount  \: = \: \frac{Discount}{Market \:  \:  Price } \times 100}

 \tt{Discount \:  =  \: Market \:  price \:  - \:  Selling  \: Price}

★GIVEN:-

  • Market price -- Rs. 4000

  • Selling price --- Rs. 3700

★TO FIND:-

  • Rate of discount

★SOLUTION:-

Discount = Market price - Selling price

Discount = 4000-3700

 : \implies{ \boxed{ \underline{ \pink{ \mathbb{Discount \:  \:  =  \:  \: Rs.  \: 300}}}}}

Therefore, we got the discount on almirah is Rs. 300. Now we know that,

 \tt{Rate \:  \:  of  \:  \: Discount  \: = \: \frac{Discount}{Market \:  \:  Price } \times 100}

By simplifying, we get

 \tt{Rate \:  \:  of  \:  \: Discount  \: =  \:  \frac{30}{4}\%}

 \tt{Rate \:  \:  of  \:  \: Discount \:  =  \:  \mathbb \purple{7.5\%}}

★TO CROSS CHECK:-

Suppose our Market Price is m.p. and Selling Price is s.p. as we know that Selling price is price after the discount of say x% in Market price,

therefore, we get

 \tt{ \: (M.P.) - x \% \: of  \: (M.P.) \:  =  \: S.P.}

By putting the value of M.P. = Rs. 400 and Discount is 7.5%

 \longrightarrow \tt{S.P. = (4000) -(7.5\% \: of \:  4000)}

By simplifying,

:  \longrightarrow \:  \tt{S.P. \:  =  \: (4000) \:  - \: (300)}

Therefore,

S.P. = Rs. 3700

So, our answer is correct.
