More About DIRECT- INDIRECT SPEECH :

Indirect speech is also known as reported speech, indirect narration, or indirect discourse.

Indirect speech can be divided into two parts :

Reporting part - this is outside the inverted commas. It contains main verb it is also called reporting verb.

Reported part - This is the statement made by the speaker. It is put between the inverted commas it is also called reported speech.

Example : Maya said → reporting verb

"Radha is my friend" → Reported speech
