Question 1 : Cost of groundnuts is directly proportional to its weight. If the cost of 5 kg groundnuts is Rs. 450 then find the cost of 1 quintal groundnuts. (Hint : 1 quintal = 100kg).

Answer:

1 quintal = 100 kg

5 kg of groundnuts =

\frac{450}{50}

 \ = 90rs.

Now, one quintal of groundnuts = 100× 90 = rs.9000.

Question: 2 y varies directly as a sqaure rooting of x. When x=16 , y = 24.

Find the constant variation and Equation of variation.

For question no. 2 plz refer to the attachment !

Question: The total remuneration paid to labourers, employed to harvest soybean is in direct variation with the number of labourers. If remuneration of 4 labourers is Rs. 1000, find the remuneration of 17 labourers.

Answer:

Given that,

Total remuniration (R) paid to labourers is directly variation with the number (N) of labourers.

r1 = rs \: 1000

n1 = 4

r2 = ?

n2 = 17

 \frac{r2}{n2}  =  \frac{r1}{n1}

 \frac{r2}{17}  =  \frac{1000}{4}

r2 = (1000 \times 17)\ \: 4

r2 = 250 \times 17

r2 = 4250

Total remuneration of 17 labourers = R2

= 4250
