1. Rolling friction : It is the friction, experienced between the surfaces which has balls or rollers interposed between them.

A simple example for rolling friction is a car with its wheels moving or the roller skates which we use for skating.

2. Static fraction : Static friction is the friction, experienced by a body, when at rest.

3. Limiting friction : The maximum value of static friction, when motion is impending, is sometimes referred to as limiting friction.

4. Dynamic friction : It is the friction, experienced by a body, when in motion.
The dynamic friction is also called kinetic friction and is less than the static friction.
