An economic activity is an activity which fulfills the monetary needs of an individual whereas a non-economic activity is one which does not satisfy the economic needs of a person.

An example of an activity which is both economic as well as non-economic is a doctor treating his patients.

When he does treatment in exchange of money, it is economic.

But when he treats poor patients for free, it is a non-economic activity.

Answer:

Doctor treating the patients.

Explanation:

Suppose your father is a doctor and he treats you whenever you became sick.

He gives you medicine so you became well soon.

Does he charge any fee from you?

No…because he is your father.

So this is a non-economic activity because income is not generating here as he treats his own child.

But on another hand if he provide medicine to their patients then he is changing money from them.

But why?

Because he has to generate income as he provide a service.

So same activity becomes economic.
