Answer:

  1. On a global scale, water moves each day with the tides. And over a long time it moves around the world from the shallow to deep oceans because of changes in the water's density - a process called thermohaline circulation. The moving water in the oceans transports heat and so it has a large impact on Earth's
  2. Warm ocean currents originate near the equator and move towards the poles or higher latitudes while cold currents originate near the poles or higher latitudes and move towards the tropics or lower latitude.

Ans 1. Seawater motions are the result of waves, tides, and currents (Figure below). Ocean movements are the consequence of many separate factors: wind, tides, Coriolis effect, water density differences, and the shape of the ocean basins.

Ans 2. Those currents that flow from the Equator towards the poles are warmer than the surrounding water and so they are called warm currents. The ocean currents that flow from the polar areas towards the Equator are cooler compared to the surrounding water, so they are called cold currents.

Ans 3. List of ocean currents of the world:-

  • Antartica current Cold
  • Okhotsk Current Cold
  • Oyadhiyo Current Cold
  • North equitorial current warm
  • Kuroshio Current warm
  • North Pacific Current warm

Ans 4. The ocean is a significant influence on Earth's weather and climate. The ocean covers 70% of the global surface. This great reservoir continuously exchanges heat, moisture, and carbon with the atmosphere, driving our weather patterns and influencing the slow, subtle changes in our climate.
