The route of Suchitra has been shown in the Cartesian plane in the figure. The location of Suchitra’s house in Cartesian plane is (0,-4).  

To Find :  The farthest from Suchitra's house  

(a) Bank (b) School (c) Shop (d) Office​

Solution:

Suchitra’s house  ( 0 , -4)

Bank  ( 4  , 10)

Distance = √(4 - 0)² + (10 - (-4))²   = √16 + 196  = √212

Suchitra’s house  ( 0 , -4)

School ( -8  , 4)

Distance = √(-8 - 0)² + (4 - (-4))²   = √84 + 64  = √128

Suchitra’s house  ( 0 , -4)

Shop   ( 10  , 4)

Distance = √(10 - 0)² + (4 - (-4))²   = √100 + 64  = √164  

Suchitra’s house  ( 0 , -4)

Office​  ( -12  , 8)

Distance = √(-12 - 0)² + (8 - (-4))²   = √144 +144  = √288

√288  >   √212 > √164   > √128

Hence The farthest from Suchitra's house is Office
